The Chinese tea art appreciation ceremony, also called the Chinese Way of Tea (茶道), is a Chinese cultural activity involving the ceremonial preparation and presentation of tea leaf. The manner in which it is performed, or the art of its performance is shown in the tea art ceremony. Taoism has also been an influence in the development of the tea art ceremony. The elements of the Chinese tea ceremony is the harmony of nature and enjoying tea in a quiet setting. Tea art appreciation ceremonies are now being revived in this fast-paced society, and continuing in the long tradition of intangible Chinese art & culture.
Tea Art Appreciation Get-Together ( ~1.5 hours)
Before Tea Art Appreciation Get-together
~ 2 weeks before : Send Invitation Card to Invited Guest
~ 2 day before : Remind guest to avoid Durian, Onion, Ginger, Garlic 1 day before tea appreciation session
~ 1 day before : Remind guest to consume heavy breakfast
Tea Artist to Set Up the table for Tea Art Presentation
It’s optional for Guest to enjoy the process of setting up by tea artist, guest can also enjoy the beautiful surroundings
Tea Artist to go to washroom & rest for 5 mins upon setting up the table
Both Guest & Tea Artist proceed to the table to start tea art presentation
Start of Tea Art Appreciation Get-together
Tea Artist will lightly bow to the guest to signal the start of tea art presentation

1st Brew - 40 seconds
Tea artist will share about three items
Triggering Sight - Appreciating the colour of the tea (light to dark brown)
Triggering Smell - Appreciating the fragrance of the tea (fruit flavour of the spring)
Triggering Taste- Appreciating the taste of the tea (fresh, rich & mellow)

2nd Brew - 30 seconds
Tea artist will share a bit more about the tea art procedures (guest has already saw the procedure in youtube)
Appreciating the beauty of flow & graceful movements

3nd Brew - 20 seconds
Tea artist will share about the equipments of the tea art presentation
Tea artist will then ask the guest to smell the bottom of the cup to appreciate the smell of Oolong

4nd Brew - 30 seconds
Tea artist will share about three variables that makes a good tea
- Quantity of Tea Leaves
- Temperature of the Water
- Soaking Time of the tea leaves

This is the last brew
Tea artist will share about the thoughts of the tea presentation

Tea art is a self cultivation where we trigger our senses to appreciate the tea
It is not like watching movie or doing exercise (external factors triggering your senses), tea art is subtle & to appreciate tea we need to trigger our inner senses & feelings …

Appreciation of tea leaves leftover
The tea has contributed it’s live for both the tea artist & guest to appreciate, notice that Oolong tea is 70% green & 30% red at the sidelines of the leaves … also smell of the tea leaves
